Iowa State coaching search lands on former star Fred Hoiberg, not Billy Gillispie

 

Iowa State’s speedy coaching search will likely end with former Cyclones star Fred Hoiberg, replacing Greg McDermott as the school’s men’s basketball coach.  ISU associate athletic director Steve Malchow confirmed to FanHouse Tuesday night that the school is in negotiations with Hoiberg to take over. Hoiberg, who is the Cyclones third-leading scorer after putting up 1,993 points between 1991-96, is currently the vice president of basketball operations for the Timberwolves.
