In a move that has been discussed within the league for some time, the SEC basketball coaches voted unanimously to end the current division format and return to the conference to its pre-expansion roots in one basketball division. The conference tournament would also be changed, with the top four teams from the regular season receiving byes, replacing the division bye system currently used.
