Kentucky hopes to get a bunch of good calls tonight

The University of men’s basketball team will host a two-hour telethon starting at 7 EST tonight to benefit victims of Hurricane Sandy. It will be televised from 7-8 on Lexington channel WKYT-27, then switch to CWKYT from 8-9.

The event also will be streamed at WKYT.com, where donations can be made for 24 hours beginning at 7 p.m. and people can bid on various auction items. All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross to benefit storm victims.

Phone banks will be open from 6-9 with players working the phones to accept donations for the final two hours. The numbers are (859) 299-5455 in Lexington or toll-free (855) 257-2700 outside the city.
