
It wasn’t a decision that will make Trey Lyles the most beloved high school basketball player Indiana has ever produced.
And Lyles knows that.
But as he pulled on a Kentucky hat Tuesday afternoon at Tech High School, signifying the end of his college recruitment in an announcement televised on ESPNU, his wide smile beamed from ear to ear.
“Kentucky separated itself in the end,” Lyles said.
The 6-10 Lyles, a consensus top-10 player in the 2014 class by national recruiting services, had cut his choices to Louisville and Kentucky. In the end, he was most impressed by coach John Calipari’s ability to accumulate talent and groom players for the NBA draft.
