Devin Booker's basketball debut in Kentucky didn't end in victory, but it would be hard not to deem it a success.
Booker, a 6-foot-6 shooting guard from Moss Point (Miss.) High School who has signed with the University of Kentucky, had an elite performance, scoring 40 points in a variety of ways and playing hard till the end of a 92-71 loss to Ballard on Saturday at the Marshall County Hoop Fest.
With UK coach John Calipari, two assistants and hundreds of Wildcats fans in attendance, Booker did his best to keep Moss Point (2-7) in contention against the deeper, more talented Bruins.
“I was just out there trying to have fun and get a win,” he said. “Obviously, we didn't come up with what we wanted, but it was a great experience for us.”
