Don't bury the Wildcats just yet, University of coach John Calipari said Friday. Sure, his team has struggled lately, losing three games and narrowly winning two others in the last six. Yes, the preseason No. 1 Cats are now a disappointing 22-8 and clinging to the last spot in the rankings.

But, Calipari said, his team is still immensely talented, still has exceptional size. is still a good shot-blocking team, a good rebounding team and, until recently, an efficient offensive team. Not to mention: four of the top five teams — and six of the top 10 — in the preseason Associated Press poll now have at least seven losses.

“We have some numbers that aren't great, but when you look at all that, to have people say this team's done, I just don't believe it,” Calipari said. “I mean, a team that has this kind of skill and ability? And other teams have lost four out of five and go on the road and lose, lose a home game to somebody … and, ‘OK, wait ‘til they get ready for the tournament.' That's what this team is. So let's hope the light goes on.”
