College basketball players are conditioned to speak in one-game-at-a-time monotones, particularly during postseason play. But make no mistake, couldn’t wait to move past Thursday to Friday here at the Tournament.

“I couldn’t wait to get to Kentucky,” freshman said Thursday night after a dutiful 68-56 win over Alabama. “I look forward to playing them every time.”

No. 7 seed meets No. 2 seed at 7 p.m. Friday at the Dome.

“The thing about them is that name,” guard Andre Stringer said. “Everybody wants to get that win. We know how important that game is to us individually. It adds that extra fire.”

  1. Don’t you just love the fact that everybody wants to beat Kentucky. Like he said, it’s that name…Kentucky. Yeah, we like that pedestal!! Just hope they can get on it and stay on it!!
