College basketball players are conditioned to speak in one-game-at-a-time monotones, particularly during postseason play. But make no mistake, LSU couldn’t wait to move past Thursday to Friday here at the SEC Tournament.
“I couldn’t wait to get to Kentucky,” freshman Jordan Mickey said Thursday night after a dutiful 68-56 win over Alabama. “I look forward to playing them every time.”
No. 7 seed LSU meets No. 2 seed Kentucky at 7 p.m. Friday at the Georgia Dome.
“The thing about them is that Kentucky name,” LSU guard Andre Stringer said. “Everybody wants to get that win. We know how important that game is to us individually. It adds that extra fire.”
