The Wildcats defeated the Friars 58-38 in a game where — honestly — Providence did a pretty good job of controlling the tempo of the game. The Friars slowed it down to the point where they could muck it up and limit the possessions that Kentucky had, which led to a close first half. Ed Cooley had a pretty smart plan here, and the Friars executed that portion of it well.
It just didn’t matter. The Kentucky defense was too good, too long, and too active.
