Kentucky has potential to be a legendarily good defensive basketball team

didn’t beat on Sunday afternoon so much as it suffocated the Friars offense until it could no longer breathe.

The Wildcats defeated the Friars 58-38 in a game where — honestly — did a pretty good job of controlling the tempo of the game. The Friars slowed it down to the point where they could muck it up and limit the possessions that had, which led to a close first half. Ed Cooley had a pretty smart plan here, and the Friars executed that portion of it well.

It just didn’t matter. The defense was too good, too long, and too active.
